EzineArticles Changes Rules to Combat Google Farmer Update

For you article marketers out there, EzineArticles is making lots of changes and getting stricter with their submission policies to try to get back in Google's graces after they were hit HARD by Google's Farmer Update.

<a href="http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2011/02/28/ezinearticles-aims-to-get-rankings-back-following-google-algorithm-update">EzineArticles Aims to Get Rankings Back, Following Google Algorithm Update</a>

"While we adamantly disagree with anyone who places the 'Content Farm' label on EzineArticles.com, we were not immune to this algorithm change," said Knight. "Traffic was down 11.5% on Thursday and over 35% on Friday. In our life-to-date, this is the single most significant reduction in market trust we've experienced from Google."

To try and get back into Google's good graces, EzineArticles is reducing the number of article submissions accepted by over 10% - articles that "are not unique enough". It will no longer accept article submissions through a Wordpress Plugin. They're reducing the number of ads per page. They're raising the minimum article word count to 400. They're "raising the bar" on keyword density limits. They're removing articles considered "thin and spammy", and will put greater focus on rejection of advertorial articles.

Lot's more at the link above.

Some good info and comments from their blog and Twitter about changes they are making that you should be aware of if you use EA.

Yet another reason why Google needs to provide clear instructions to the public. Ezine is a great resource and there really isn't any reason they needed to be penalized.

Good information...I think of all the sites this change targeted, EA is probably one of the cleaner, better sites. They have an extensive review system that produces better quality content than sites that just put out anything that's submitted.

ezine always been strcit about how we should submit our articles, and in the end it didnt worked and they got punished by google.

so i think they were all wrong all the way.

now if they ask us to follow their rules it is only natural that they should have follow google`s rules, and i guess they didnt do it.

Looks like the changes weren't quite enough.
