I too was a freelance writer for five years, so I know how hard you must work.
Diversifying to enable you to scale your income is a great idea. With writing, you can only work until your eyes/brain/fingers/hours in a day, give out. Having additional revenue streams may even give you some passive income, depending on which direction you choose to follow. I'm referring to product and recurring sales vs CPA.
