Are you doing AM in the same way?
Yes, but on a limited basis for years ...
I try to create low resource footprint websites --using MySQL and PHP only where needed.
If you are doing no-SEO AM using ad networks Bootstrap is the best way to do it (IMHO) there is a good general internet knowledgebase and much 'sample' code to work with to resolve many issues.

Week 7 update
Tuesday had highest daily earnings so far ($75)
Today is end of 1st full month as affiliate marketer
It has been very very challenging to stay focused

These are my Q4 goals
  • October target $60/day ($1800/month) - Autumn sales, Halloween
  • November target $80/day ($2400/month) - Black Friday, Cyber Monday
  • December target $100/day ($3000/month) - Xmas sales, New Year

My affiliate marketing target this month October
Scale up to $1800 ($60/day)
It's 50% month-2-month increase
This is how I plan it
  1. Target written on wall ($60/day)
  2. Increase average order value 100%
  3. Read Amazon Trend Report daily
  4. Plan week in Google Calendar
  5. Watch 1 Neil Patel video a day
  6. Properly read Affiliate Marketing Guide
  7. Read affiliate marketing network newsletters
  8. Launch new niche Xmas website
  9. Solve smart phone errors Google Mobile Friendly Test
  10. Share it on this thread
Great plan! I need to start making goals too, just keeps you so much more focused and organized. It's so easy to get scattered all over the place in this business; especially with all of the little mundane tasks that need to be done.

How much content do you plan on putting out for the Xmas website? Also, how often? Thanks!

I need to start making goals too
What is your goal for October?
Make is known to other people
Write it down and look at it often
It's so easy to get scattered all over the place in this business;
Set a time to start and finish tasks
Avoid social media it's designed to waste your time and promote products you dont need
Also clear out all your garbage and clutter and make your space CLEAN
How much content do you plan on putting out for the Xmas website?
As much as I need to provide customers with the best answer
No set amount of words, keywords cleverly placed or any of that nonsense
Just find out your customers problem and solve it
Then move on to the next problem

These are all great goals! I'd like to get in on the action myself. I liked your 'blue sunglasses' example
Example formula
  • Product A (blue sunglasses) cost $100
  • You make $8 earnings per sale (8% commission)
  • If you sell 10 sunglasses a day it's $80 (x 7 = $560/week)
Go to Wordtracker and search blue sunglasses
Keyword volume is 1,433 visits/month (US)
Further down list is blue mirror sunglasses 678 visits/month (US)
Now you decided to promote blue mirror sunglasses
  • Register the domain name bluemirrorsunglasses.com for $1
  • Register hosting for $10/year
  • Register SSL for $5/year
  • Set up CMS
  • Install e-commerce platform
  • Add products (ONLY blue mirror sunglasses)
  • Start to rank on Google after 3-4 weeks
That's what I did now I'm earning $50/day ($1500/month)

To do this successfully I cannot stress enough how important it is to read and apply the Google Webmaster Guidelines
Very good example. I'm going to read up on the google webmaster guidelines as you recommended. I'm also going to take your advice and make a substantial checklist filled with goals I'd like to reach as well as the tasks I'd like to accomplish.

In terms of where you find the products; are you mostly an amazon affiliate, or are you promoting products on all sorts of networks? Also, from the first $1000 you were able to generate through SEO, was it mostly from amazon products or did you have success with products from other networks as well?

Can you touch on what you meant when you said that someone was "slow at SEO"? What exactly did you mean by that? I have always heard that it takes a really really long time to achieve results with SEO, however, I see that doesn't have to be the case. Maybe if you try to rank for something really competitive it will take a lot of time, but if you're clever with your keywords (like you have) it's cool to see that you can achieve results in as little as 3-4 weeks.

What are your overall tips on SEO to acheive quicker results? I've been learning mostly about paid traffic and native ads, how to optimize and track paid advertising, so my SEO knowledge is really quite limited. Seeing your results, however, is making me think that maybe I should first try to generate some revenue the organic way and not dive right into PPC. Or at least, generate some decent revenue from SEO to then re-invest in PPC.

Thanks for reading the lengthy post!

Many products and networks - 1 category
By category you mean niche/vertical?
  • Keep it all simple as you can
  • Have a goal that you can achieve

So I'm thinking my list should look something like this:

1. Find a niche I can write about and provide the reader with value (can be some type of product?)
2. Research keywords for this particular niche/product + Google trends
3. Analyze the monthly volume of searches the keywords get to determine saturation
4. Look into long-tail keywords for niche if too saturated?
5. Narrow it down to the list of keywords I want to rank for
6. Look for offers to promote (amazon + other networks)
7. Once 5 & 6 is checked, register domain name + hosting
8. Create a content site for the niche/product?* (this is the part I'm not sure how to start on)

*How often do you add content to the site that you are trying to rank for? What does the site look like? Will it be a typical web page that has an "about us", "contact us" section and all of that or can it be a simple page revolving just around the product you're writing about? Since it's a page providing the reader with content, it can't just be a landing page. Will it be an article style page? Will it be a listicle style?

Do I focus on one product or several products in the same niche? Many thanks for all of the tips and suggestions.

Are you running ads now? Is this PPC or still organic?

PPC? What is that 'Please pay cash'
  • Marketing is promoting products people looking for
  • Advertising is promoting products people not looking for
What I will do is
  1. Test water with SEO
  2. Find best performance products
  3. Use PPC to scale up faster

I haven't been using that much lately --but it is still of value ;)
I use it for GEO targeting on a postal code/by US state level for ads and for delivering visitor content on websites dynamically.
Yes --every IP that requests a file from a server has a location --the location is the ISP server you use that is within a 2-50 mile radius of your physical location. For $5-$8 CPM I can buy geo-targeted ads based on you mobile GPS or your home wireless modem. Does interest and ability to purchase matter? Rhetorical question.

@AmNovice
Your plan sounds good
Those questions will be self-answered by your plan
Only thing to add to plan is your target
Doesn't matter if it $1 or $1k
But make a target and set your dead line
Very important

That is very smart marketing
I am designing a database now for the early reading courses -- FKN headache aligning the databases.
We will test the Google Trends stuff -- I am keying by state>interest over 60% and am trying to narrow down the 576 zip from the 18 states that made the cut /by zip=city
google trends will not show this detail
Code:
AND ratio  > 1.65;
ratio is income to median they need that to afford the offer (is the theory I am assuming)
so if i was doing some sweeps like offer the ratio would be <.90 :D

Income is from IRS aggregated data 2016 by zipcode ;)

Quick update
Record sales today
Earned $100 daily commission for 1st time
I get this now, actually very simple
The hard part is getting started
