Best Link Research Tool

Hi,
What tools are best to research the links pointing to my site? I have just subscribed to SEOmoz. It is a nice tool and I can download links pointing to my site, but I am not sure that all links are included.

I need to find ALL backlinks pointing to my site. I need to review all of them and get those removed that do not comply with google's guidelines. I just received a -50 penalty.

Also, is there a way to quickly remove links pointing to my site? Or do I have to contact each webmaster individually?

I'm not familiar with penalties, so sorry for the dumb question but how do you know you got a -50? Did you get an email from Google or see it in webmaster tools or???

I don't really do anything with backlinks per se, I would assume that no one tool can find all links. They each kinda have their own database so you may need to just keeping checking with different ones.

Majestic I think has the biggest database. I know lots that like ahrefs.com too.
