Anti-Wares WordPress Themes

WordPress is fast becoming the ideal blogging system. And with that
title comes the spammers who want to use WP to benefit their pockets.
Be wary of WP themes that are not available on the WP Codex site.

If you find a theme that has encoding, which is usually in the footer,
and is explained by the theme author as, "its there to protect my links",
I would causion you to either "reverse engineer" that, or find another
theme without restrictions. Not that I want to cheat the author of a
link back for their hard work, but many, many, many authors are using
this technique to dynamically change the affiliate ID's of any Google
AdSense or other types of marketing that you use - changing it to theirs.

I will only download from the "official WordPress" site or create my own
themes. There is a great plugin in the works that will scan a theme you
download, and will disable it once it finds this type of encoding.
It's still in the works, but I feel it's an important step if you want
to use 3rd party sites to download themes from. Plugin is here:

How does everyone feel about this?

I am trying to stay away from any encrypted software. It's sad that the only way for developers to protect link back is encrypt it, otherwise 95% of users will remove it from the templates...
