Don't forget that the Pinterest browser plugins will grab the tags from your images. If someone pins an image from your site, it will be posted to Pinterest with the tags you put in.
I agree, it doesn't seem to be worth it. Sure, you may look popular, but your aren't getting quality traffic. Other people who might be encouraged to follow due to your "popularity" could probably figure out that it's just a bunch of bots. I think it would be much better to have real followers...

I've used them a bit, but never got comfortable with the referral system, so never used the sites to their fullest. I still use mturk occasionally. You can definitely earn more than $0.45/half hour, but it does get very tedious. It's nice for a quick buck, but I find it really hard to do long term.
