Is this movie only for old Star Trek fans?

I've never seen the Star Trek series... will the movie make sense to me or just for old Star Trek fans? Thanks in advance.

It's a sad day...

I just finished the entire Star Trek Deep Space Nine series tonight. All I wanna do is go watch another episode but there are no more. For a long time TNG was my favorite but now I've gotta say it's DS9. I will miss it. And now I start Voyager. I wonder where it's place in the lineup will be...
