I don't think it would be a problem for Google since you could configure your search results via your Gmail account or using a more accurate search term when you search.

I think the seoquake add-on for Firefox would be really helpful for this purpose. It comes with alexa and compete rank features for measuring traffic purpose.

I don't think what you offered above would lead to such a sharp drop in traffic.
Of course, you might want to modify one of your title tags for this purpose according to Google webmaster tool.
