I understand temi's dilema, of course people have put effort into the competition and no doubt drawn a lot of attention to theselves regarding it but if it isnt going to work, theres nothing that can be done. I for one appreciate him trying and the effort he put into it on all the entrants...
Exactly. There is no real way to police a team and individual contest. Anyways, in reality, its the real world everyone is up against normally and so why not in the competition also.
Great idea, the net, after all is global and made up of many different search engines and their own theories therein. By taking into account only one of them, does not, in my opinion, give a cross section of results on the web that the public actaully see. Its a bit blinkered not to take into...
Another thought, why can the competition not be linked to say, Yahoo and MSN search also? As in, a site recieves bonus points for high postions there possibly.

Hows about making the ground rules a bit less spammy! As in, maximise the number of times the keyword is allowed to be used rather than any excuse to spam it in again as happens with great success.

Agreed, any search term could have been used, so long as it was not in the index but now there are so many Google results for "seo contest 2008" (with spaces as you can see). I found them and it mislead my entry. I saw the contest mentioned and looked it up, with spaces on the net, and found...
Well, what aload of old tosh IMO, who, in quality SEO would use a joined up term, no gaps between words etc in a hope to attract searchers?
I have, gone to the trouble of buying a new URL and shaping a new site purely for this contest only to find that it has been completely a waste of time...
