Where do these spy programs get advertisers info?

I'm new here, I need to know where these spy programs such as BoxOFAds and WhatRunsWhere are getting people's campaign information. Are they scraping it directly from the PPV and ad networks? I ask because I don't want my info posted on those sites and hope to find a way around it. Thanks
