Some good examples, the important part is when you make up your mind on what you are going to start out with, give it a real shot and focus, focus don't look at all the other stuff out there. Get some money flowing first!
Find a service people need focus on that problem if you don't know how to do it, find someone that can and charge the client more and you are basically the middle man, ie arbitrage.
Nice advice T J Tutor..yes planning and focus are key, getting good at one area and focusing is important. Its easy to fall for the shiny object syndrome. Try to stay focused, stay positive as they say you cant fail if you don't quit.
Yea if you want to ever get specific the demographics are much more in depth for dating then on FB..because after all it is a dating site, as mentioned earlier other offers work well. Think what would go along with dating such as weightloss..
Nice, I'm a little surprised that you are getting that good of results, you think people would have banner blindness on that stretch of area since its so saturated.
I think thats relative to how you are promoting it, ads free traffic, etc. I guess I'm a little old school and go fb. I know tumbler is a little younger of an audience, it all depends on what you want.
Yea it all comes back to provide value and you will be rewarded. Don't look at as a negative, instead look at as a positive way to weed out the people who don't want to put the work in, more money for the people that do!
Some of those pages are pretty "hot". It seems like they would getting pretty close to the limits, but who knows. The Ad approval seems to be where FB gets a lot more strict. I'm sure it also depends if the page starts getting flagged etc.

When I first started ads on FB I waited two days, so I resubmitted and got approved within 15 minutes. Lately, my ads have been approved within 5 minutes! It seems to go faster when you are just altering your campaign while you are testing your ads.
They are trying to improve the content that goes through the newsfeed, and they are basically telling businesses that hey if you want advertising you are going to pay us for it. I agree though this is supposed to be a social site, it will be interesting what direction FB will go. I believe...
Without knowing how much it cost you, but you said its fairly cheap I would come to the conclusion that retargeting would have been worth it. Because you are running PPC you are getting your brand out there without having to pay much for it. Of course this depends on your end goal..
I would say image also! You only have a short time to grab someones attention, I believe the image attracts you first and then you gravitate to the headline etc. Maybe there is a difference if you are running a right column image compared to using the newsfeed?
