I do shop online, but I don't make the bulk of my purchases online. I buy most of my computer parts, books, and office supplies online. Everything else, I purchase offline.
It really depends on your business. Most of the time, your real name is the best way to go. If you want to remain anonymous, then create a fiction "real name".
Are they real followers? It does take awhile, but I prefer to build up real followers. If the goal is to sell sponsored tweets, then it might not matter.
PayMate is an app that used on a smartphone to accept payments. It would be used by a local business to accept credit cards. If you are doing web design, you could accept payment via credit card with your Iphone or Android.
I would never trust PayPal with a brick and mortar business, but...
I have never heard of this program. Thanks for mentioning it here. :)
I join groups in my niche and actively participate. I try to post stuff of value. Mostly, stuff about my niche. I don't use Facebook as much as I should.
Twitter and YouTube. I like Twitter because I can find prospects locally. YouTube is great because videos rank high in the search engine results. I can get a video ranked fairly quickly. I don't use Facebook as much as I should.
Social media is where the bulk of my traffic comes from. After social media, videos on YouTube are my next biggest traffic generator. Social media can be a time suck. I use tools to help me manage everything.
I love social media because I don't have to depend on Google for my traffic. I like...
I don't mind lurkers because I lurk myself. Most people lurk without ever participating. The 80/20 rule applies. 20% of the membership accounts for 80% of the content. It hard on a new forum though.
My Twitter profile is public. My profile on Linked in is public too although I think you have to join LinkedIn to see most of it. I keep my personal profile on Facebook private. Only my friends and family can see it and not much is listed there anyway. I do have a Facebook fan page which is public.
I have a few thousand, just under 3500 followers. I target local people, but I know that I have followers outside of my area. I have been tweeting, but haven't be aggressively searching for followers.
I do a little bit of freelance writing. I also write for my own blog and websites. I have written a few ebooks too. I much prefer to write my own products. I'm getting burnt out on freelance writing.
I started out part-time, but now it's more like full time. I have a part time job, but I really want to let that job go. I can't just yet. My goal is to use my online income to build up my online business.
I heard that PayPal was getting into the mobile payor business, but didn't know that it was going to have a completely different name. It looks like it trying to compete against SquareUp. I would never use PayPal for this purpose. PayPal is just too touchy.

Attention: "role based name" email prefixes such as support, webmaster, info, contact, forum, service, affiliate, admin, traffic, partners, marketing, etc., for our member accounts are not permitted. They are acceptable for a vendor listing, but not for the member email. This is due to bulk email processors scrubbing them for delivery due to extremely high bounce rates. Please apply for membership using a personalized email prefix. Something like bob@xxxxx.com.
If we discover you signed up with a role based name we will give you only one message to change it. After 3 days your account will be removed if the email is not changed.
