My name is Mark Chandonnet and I live with my family in Muskegon, MI USA. Muskegon is a medium sized town on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. I have been married to my wife for 11 years and we have a wonderful 7 year old, going on fifteen, daughter. I have owned my own construction company for the past thirteen years. I’m 36 years old and started my construction company when I was only twenty three. With that said, I’ve always had kind of an entrepreneurs mindset.
Like I said we live right by the shores of Lake Michigan and we love boating in the summer. The summers here are absolutely gorgeous and to me, there is nothing quite like being out on the water on a boat. As awesome as it is here in the summer, the winters are cold and snowy. It has always been a dream of mine and my wives to spend the summers here and go somewhere warm for the winters.
My Business Background
When I started my own contracting business thirteen years ago I had no idea what I was doing and how to even run a successful business. I had some of family and friend that really supported me throughout the first year and into the second. I learned some very tough, but very valuable lessons along the way. One of the biggest challenges I faced was being so young. People would always tell me that there was no way a guy, “or kid” my age could be the owner of a construction company!
Fast forward thirteen years to the present, I’m still at it and doing Okay with it. I’ve watched many others try unsuccessfully. I’ve seen quite a few companies pop up and then disappear. This business has provided a relatively comfortable lifestyle for my family and I. I enjoy being able to build things for people. It gives me a great sense of pride to “create” something form the ground up, even being able to make others peoples visions a reality. That said, I very often find myself at my breaking point. The stress of employees, the red tape to cut through with municipalities, and working around the clock just to live a decent life. Another one drawback is the amount of work that it involves both physically and mentally, I work hard and I work a lot! It is also very hard to maintain a constant profit with the business. It really is the cliché “feast or famine”! After thirteen years I felt like no matter how hard or how long I worked, I never got any further ahead.
My Start Online
Even though I was doing OK for me and my family I started getting this urge for bigger and better things. I wanted a way to be able to take a weeks vacation without feeling like I was gone for a month. I wanted to spend more time with my family, I didn’t want to miss my daughters whole childhood because I was too busy working. My family means the world to me and I want to give them the world! The bottom line was I wanted to have financial freedom from here on out to be able to give my family the life that they deserve.
Then I ran into one of my cousins, who I hardly ever see, at a family funeral. I knew that he had an online business for the past several years and that was about all I knew. I sat down and talked to him about what he was doing and he really didn’t tell me much, accept that he worked from home and got to spend all the time in the world with his family. I thought about what he was doing and about the possibility of doing the same thing for myself. I had no idea where to turn or what to look for. I immediately started looking online and I got sucked into the hype.
I bought all kinds of softwares and programs that promised the world and riches and all sorts of crazy claims. Before I knew it, I had wasted over $19,000 and a whole bunch of time. Because of my blind purchasing, it caused a lot of tension between my wife and I. I bought everything form an ecommerce website to push button software. After almost nine months, I had made a total of $27.43 from some affiliate site. I wanted to believe that I was a smarter person than one to be taken by all these empty promises. I knew that people were out there making money with an online business and I was determined to find the answers, I just needed someone to show me.
Finally I came across a business model where I actually got to talk and interact with real people! The fact is, this was how I had done business all along in my construction business. Everything is face to face, actual human interaction, not automated by some computer. It took me a while to figure out exactly how to set things up to make an actual income stream in my online business. I asked a million questions, went through one on one coaching sessions, and started to see how this whole thing worked. Even still, I was spending all this time learning but with no significant results.
The Answer
Thanks to my stubbornness and being bound and determined to make this online business a reality a real opportunity fell in my lap. I got involved with a Mastermind training class with a handful of other people who were in the exact same situation with their online business as I was. This was the springboard that I needed to take my online business to the next level of success. In this mastermind, the process for the next generation of marketing was laid out for us. It also showed me the importance and power of learning and interacting with real people, just like I had done for thirteen years prior, and not some so called software system.
I feel very fortunate to have been one of the lucky ones able to take part in such valuable training. At first I was not easy to hear about all of the things that I was doing wrong. I was focused on all of the wrong things. I was convinced that success was going to come from some miracle software or program. I really had to dig down deep and figure myself out before I was going to be able to figure out a brand new business! I had to figure out exactly why I wanted to do this in the first place, and how I was going to help other people do the same. Now it’s your turn! I can now show others just like you how not to make the same costly mistakes that I made and show you the right way to succeed with an online business.
