Yes, it is great to add Wordpress to your own domain, if you want a blog that is. If you are wanting a general site then not so much.

I can say I am unsure if you can get rid of it. It looks like Google was testing it a few weeks back, as some results is was there and others is weren't.
Looks like it is permanent now, as it shows up all the time for me.
You can get indexed with 1 page of content. If you have 100s of pages and not 1 backlink/submit site to the search engines, then you will not get indexed.

Just posting "great post" will get your comment deleted and having your name as "cheap Viagra pill" will also probably be a waste of time too.
If you just made a new site with a new URL and there are no backlinks to your site, your site will not get indexed.

It is ok using do-follow blogs but people tend to spam the hell out of them and ruin it for everyone else, it also helps if the blog is related to your site.
