What's Hot in Internet Marketing Now and Into 2015

Disclaimer: I own none of the sites listed here. I am sharing with you free resources I use that I normally don't tell anyone about. I am doing this strictly as a gift to Oliver because he has been so generous to me, and I wanted to say thank you to him. Make sure you say thank you too. :)

My apologies for not being around on the forums. This has been a busy year for me. My life took a major turn in the wrong direction, and I had to clean up the mess. Now I am back on track, so here I am.

Today I want to talk to you about some of the things I have learned this year about internet marketing and its direction. I have some free tools for you that I have used that helped me discover what I am about to tell you. (If you are a member of the Dojo, make sure you grab a copy of my business course. It's over 4 hours of video content to teach you how to start and market a business online using free tools. I uploaded it here this morning, and it has only recently been released to the veterans' community.)

There are three internet marketing techniques you want to consider here because they are hot now, and they will only continue to get hotter. Video is actually set to explode over the next five years, and since there are about five times as many cell phones as there are computers, you cannot afford to ignore cell phones. These techniques can help you improve your overall mobile marketing plan.

Here are the techniques I recommend:

1. Images

I have tested tons of content on Facebook. Images outperform them all, and it's easy to create images that can go viral. The nice thing about images is that I have never seen an admin flag an image that has a link on it, and so this gives you the ability to market just about anywhere that your content would be targeted.

The first thing you need to do in order to find images that will work is to simply test some images on your timeline or in groups. Find out what people like. Then you can use that information to help you create similar images to post that also include your domain on the image. Keep in mind this will also tell you what you need to know about which images to use for ads without you having to spend any money, particularly if you plan to use what's called "Dark Posts."

Quotes actually make great images, and I have a cool free tool for you to use to create images for Pinterest: http://quozio.com/

Don't forget to go back to Pinterest and edit your post to add your link. Remember that you are marketing to about 80 percent women, so you want products and images that appeal to them.

If you want to search for free images to edit and then use, the first place I recommend is Wikimedia Commons. You can use these images for free, and there's no copyright.

Once you edit your images, post them to Instagram with this free desktop software. You need to make sure your dimensions are correct: 600x600. Instagram images are square.

Add all your relevant information to your profiles for these sites and include links to your offers. Creating good profiles is a great way to brand yourself, and it allows Google to connect all your content together through Google Author. This can help with search engine rankings.

2. Videos

Video is set to grow over the next five years, so it's something you want to incorporate in your marketing plan if you aren't doing it already.

When posting to YouTube, make sure that you set your videos so that they are available for mobile. This is an easy way for your to increase the number of views because many will be watching videos on their phones or tablets.

Making videos is easy. You may use a phone, tablet, your computer or software that is designed for creating video.

One tip for recycling your videos: you may recycle them by adding to them, or making minor changes so you may post the same video to multiple channels on YouTube and not get deleted for duplicate content. Rewrite your descriptions and titles so they are different.

The easiest software to do this with is Ezvid because it allows you to add images or anything else you want. Once you have made your edits, then upload to YouTube through the software. Note: it will add a frame to the beginning promoting the software. I just delete it. This software may also be used to make videos and works really well with slides. It includes complete tutorials so you can get started fast.

Create custom thumbnails and use good tags. The more embeds you have, the better you can rank. YouTube is very interactive, so you have a lot of ways to connect and share your content.

YouTube doesn't publicize the fact that each channel has an RSS feed. This is an easy way for you to get traffic because all you have to do is add your channel ID to the following link and then submit it to RSS directories:

Once you create your feed, then submit it one time:

Connect your YouTube channel to Facebook, Twitter and Google+ through your YouTube account. Then when you post a video, your video will automatically post to these sites and save you a ton of time.

3. Mobile

Mobile incorporates both these techniques so if you are already using them to promote, then you are already ahead of the game.

Mobile isn't an internet marketing technique. It is a platform to market on, and if you want to be successful at it, then you want to understand how the platform works, and then how you can use it to get the most from your marketing efforts.

There are two ways to market using this platform: mobile ads and content distribution.

Mobile ads are where you submit ads to be seen on mobile devices. Basically, it's a form of pay per click. The most obvious way to do this is to use a site like Google and advertise through mobile ads (there are others.) You may also consider advertising in apps.

I won't go into app creation here although I am interested in doing it. If you are tech savvy and app savvy, this is a great way to make money because you can give away free apps through sites like Google Play, iTunes and Amazon. You want to make sure your app is available on all platforms because this will increase its chances of getting downloaded. You may also consider making apps to sell.

That's what I know about mobile advertising. This is something I will be moving into because this is the direction the internet is going, and what's great about apps is that you do the work once and get paid over and over once the app takes off.

The other way to market here is content marketing, and I've already given you two techniques to do this. The third is digital publishing.

This is actually a whole lot easier than you think if you know where to go to get the job done. I use a site called Book Tango.

Book Tango - http://www.booktango.com/

What Book Tango allows you to do is to take your manuscript and submit it to the top app bookstores on the internet: Google Play, iTunes, Amazon Kindle, Sony Books, Barnes and Noble Nook, Scribd and Kobo (there are others I think, but these the ones that Book Tango lists.)

The beauty of using this service is that it allows you to submit a properly formatted manuscript to each of these sites for acceptance. It takes about 30 - 45 days to get into all the catalogs, and you have to check each catalog to make sure you are listed.

Instead of having to create multiple versions of your manuscript, you only have to create one, so this saves you a ton of time and effort.

You save the document as Microsoft Word, and if your word processor is Open Office like mine is, you won't have any trouble because the tiny things you will will have to fix only take a few minutes and can be done within the online editor on the site. 1 Document. All the formats. Piece of cake.

Once your manuscript is accepted to these sites, just promote the links. You can submit ebooks for giveaway or to make money, and your share is 80 percent. This site is completely free to use. They make their money off the 20% they get from the sales you make on site and the services they offer, which are optional.

There you have it. I could write a whole lot more. This will get you started, and you can bang it on the traffic.

Questions? Comments? Let's here it. :)
