Trademarked Keyword

Hi guys.

Can experienced marketers help me out regarding keywords in PPC campaign?

Usually network like Peerfly doesn't allow affiliates to bid on trademarked keywords. But I thought it means only on the EXACT word for example "Mary Kay" and not a long tail keyword such as "Where to get Mary Kay free samples".

Feel free to give any advice regarding this matter. Thanks.

Personally I feel networks should allow you to bid on any keyword you want as long as it doesn't hurt the product. Your the one paying the cost so why should they be able to restrict you. As for you trying to use that branded keyword in a long tail format I don't think its going to fly but you should really ask your network rep.

They do this for several reasons, and it isn't the network that places that limitation, it's the advertiser or brand that places that restriction.

The brands themselves are paying for advertising and they don't want direct keyword competition. They feel our job as affiliates is to find the channels of traffic they don't utilize.

Like @T J Tutor said, plus they don't want you showing up ahead of them in the search engines. I've read some offer terms that state you cannot rank higher than they do.

Wise decision. It's not worth risking your account or earnings to use them. Better to stick with safe words.
