I personally prefer that you use a third party when it comes to hosting the autoresponder. One thing i am sure you want to host it is because you need to have a complete access and security to all your emails. There are today such like companies that provide the hosting package with such like features. Coming up with a self hosted one will be very expensive and will derail your main objective. You need to focus on the autoresponder and live the behind the scene issues to another provider.
