Self Serve Vs Direct Site

So in your experienced do you prefer a self serve media option for example ExoClick and SiteScout

OR

The direct approach, I.E contacting site directly for media buys!

They both have some huge pros and cons that's for sure, going through a network offers a quick way to test and scale but direct allows you to cut out that middle man and get a better deal.

Would be great to hear what people think about this one?
