Risks in affiliative marketing

In general try to stay with network that is reputable so you won't risk getting not paid.

Second thing I would watch out with are your landing pages always clear them with you AM so you will be sure that everything is compilant. It's easy to step out of the line.

Thanks,

You'll always have to make sure that the network is a legit one, and they'd pay you on time. You can also test the validity of the network by talking to the affiliate manager. Although you might not be an expert in the industry, you can still sense if they are just goofing around from their tone. You should also look at if their offer verticals fit your traffic.

The best thing you can do is just make sure that you do your research. Look for reviews about that network (AffiliateFix has a section where you can find reviews here) and avoid brand new networks or networks that seem 'too good to be true'.

Obviously there is always a slight risk that even the most reputable networks could go under (anyone remember Copeac?) but as long as you stick the big guys that have been around for a while and that have a good reputation among affiliates that risk is very, very low.

What are the risks in affiliate programs and what newbie should pay attention to when choosing a new program?

The biggest risks are not getting paid and/or it's a BS program. You should pay attention what other affiliates are saying, if there are many other affs promoting it (gravity in clickbank...), you can contact the vendor and ask for a review copy so you can see for yourself if its a quality offer.

Just my 2cents

There are probably bigger risks in those who affiliate market by emailing and similar methods, as opposed to those who affiliate market through their websites and SEO/SEM
