Practises to stop emails being flagged?

I'm starting as new comerce shop and we will be sending emails and getting a list together, shoudl I use HTML emails only or images? Also how can I make sure they dont get flagged? Words to avoid etc?

the best thing is to have an unsubscribe Link in the footer of each email to avoid being flagged as spam. and better to have it in a bigger font. give the visitor a chance to unsubscribe from your list and don't let him flag you.

also try to work in the beginning just with plain text.

- Ensure your list is double-opt in.
- Include a working unsubscribe link as required by CAN-SPAM.
- Let your provider know you are sending a newsletter (always a good idea).
- Emails should be helpful as well as trying to sell a product.
