I am wanting to get started in affiliate marketing. I lost my job after many years due to a heart condition, and now need a way to make some money. I am too old to have to start a new "job" with a new boss. Time to be my own boss. Ready to do whatever it takes to make it. I take care of my elderly parents, one of whom has dementia, so leaving the house was not an option. I am now starting down the path of affiliate marketing. Am totally confused by all the "universities", "guru's", and other sites you can purchase their courses on. Need to find out if any are worth it. I am willing to do what I need to do, just don't know what that is exactly. Hopefully, I will be able to find some of the answers I need for this process here.

Hey @michael962003 Welcome to the Fix!
Have a look around the forum, and start taking ACTION.
Mobile is running hot right now and its comparatively easier to get started.
There a lot of IM courses out there by "gurus" who don't know shit, stay away from them. Instead spend that money on testing and "buying" data.

1. Pick out some offers (ask your AM for the top offers by EPC and Volume)
2. Pick a traffic source suitable for the offers you have chosen. Stick to this traffic source till you master it. Don't jump from one traffic source to the other.
3. Start a Follow Along thread so that other can help you.

OPTIONAL: Join The Dojo - It has really great guides on all aspects of CPA marketing from setting up tracking to optimising campaigns. This will speed up your learning.

Good Luck

Thanks a lot for your input! Just one thing though, not sure what you meant when you said," ask your AM for the top offers by EPC and Volume", could you please explain this? Sorry, like I said very new to this, but really ready and willing to learn.

Can anyone explain what was meant in the post from lrs1995 seen here:

1. Ask your affiliate manager what are the best offers which you can promote. It's critical you look at the EPC (Earnings Per Click) for each offer.
2. Pick just ONE method in which you can use to drive traffic to those offers. Stick with only one source of traffic until you master it. Once you do, implement other traffic getting methods to maximize your earnings.
3. Ask him! =)

Thanks very much for your reply. I don't have an affiliate manager, as far as I know. I am still reading through the forum, so maybe I will understand who that would be and where to find them. (ha) Hopefully, as I read through the forum, I will start to see through the fog that is right now in front of me. Also with the help that everyone has been, and hopefully will be willing to give, I will be on my way to much more understanding of all of this.

Thanks again!! : )

You're welcome mate.

You'll have an affiliate manager when you sign up for affiliate networks. =)

Ahhh yes the fog. Don't worry buddy, keep reading etc.

Good luck!

Where do I sign up for affiliate networks, or are you speaking of when I sign up to promote an affiliate product?

Thanks

There's heaps out there.

Check out PeerFly & OfferVault...

Those are CPA Networks.

Then there's other non CPA networks you can join such as Clickbank, JV Zoo, Paydotcom.com, Amazon & even Ebay.

There's just sooooooooo many you can join =)

P.S - Those are just a few of the many networks that's out there on the interwebz!

OK Well I already have a Clickbank account, and a JV Zoo account, also have been selling on Ebay for awhile now. I have not tried to promote any products on Clickbank yet because I just didn't know exactly what to do so that I am doing it correctly. As far as JV Zoo, I just got the account, but really haven't done anything with it, just kind of looked around. I am thinking I need to read and ask more questions here before I jump into trying to promote something on Clickbank or JV. I will check out Peerfly and Offervault, but should I just jump into promoting something, or should I get more information first? I just don' tknow that I know enough to just start trying to promote something when I am not sure what I am doing. I'm just not even sure how to start. I have an idea, but that's all. Just an idea...
