Is directory submission still working?

To be honest, I thought people quit using them about ten years ago.
Good point. There has to be some kind of payoff, or they wouldn't keep paying for the servers, etc.
I think this might be a 'might help, can't hurt' situation, as my mother used to say. Just be smart about which directories you choose to submit to. You want to avoid the spammy, low-quality ones. Assuming there are still some good ones left. There used to be one most highly regarded but for the life of me, I can't think of the name.

I'd say that they still work great, but only for some specific aspects. Personally, I haven't noticed significant changes in Search rankings after working with directories. Though back in the days, that was pretty effective.

This is a very old tactic and I don't think it is an effective one. Instead of that, you can do guest posting, web 2.0 submission, etc for quality backlinks.
