Hi TJ, nice to meet you. Thanks for the welcome, and sorry for the late reply. For some reason I haven't received any alert on my email, although, if I am right, the settings should automatically send alerts. Any tips about the alert settings? Here they are: links now allowed yet, so here are my email settings: prnt. sc / bwww9n
Shouldn't I receive email alerts on replies on threads where I have posted?

And back to the topic, I will have to exercise a bit, because I am not a very engaging person on forums. Nice to know that though.

For now I will surf around and see what's cooking, I have spent too much on affiliate classes, courses, secrets, tips and tricks in the last 2 years with an awful return on investment, and even 10 bucks would seem a fortune to me for such spending o_O

I threw in a nice apartment value the last time my online ventures went down, thinking that I could skip the hard months of testing various things again if I pay mentors to help me get back in the track. Turns out I lost 2 years and tons of money on nothing.

Cheers

There are some guides and journeys around here for starters.
Try to read and follow one guide and focus on improving from it.
Don't try everything. Follow something you find interesting and stick with it.
You don't really need to much money to make money in this industry.
Goodluck. :)

Just ask some questions and we will try to help you in any way we can.

Let's say say I am half starter :) If you point me in the right direction, like pointing a niche, and give me a short practical guide I can do the rest myself without asking what is that, what is this, where do I get that, how do I build a landing page, website, etc. Most probably I am not the only one in this situation, I am sure many would do great if things would fall off from heaven :D

I also have basic programming skills, 15 years ago I got a programming diploma, never practiced though, so they are pretty basic, enough for working with cms or creating landing pages, etc. I do know html and css by the book though, and know how to use photoshop, although my art skills are terrible.

Generally I am reticent about what I am told, since it seems to me that online everybody can say that he/she is right, is a genius, is rich, is making a lot of money, is a god, etc.

But the first thing I need to do is to get a proper picture of my face

My first issue is that I come from adult marketing, so I have a terrible time finding a good mainstream niche and a way to go with the niche. Adult marketing is different than mainstream, a lot of mainstream methods don't fit adult.

I did adult for around 15 years, that is 15 years of affiliate marketing, not adult videos. Yet I never felt really comfortable with it, it's not a thing you'd talk on the first meeting with the father in law :p I am keeping a small adult project for the sake of the old times, but I want to move in mainstream, the opportunities are huge in comparison with adult ( which, nowadays, you can find in a lot of places for free, beat that if you can in term of monetization ).

Bottom line, I am a bit disoriented, I feel like if I am focusing on something else for 6 months a year to reach the conclusion that I took the wrong path ( again, lately ), I will stop feeding my animals and force them to earn their food.

I will be reading around, I am curious to see what shall I find interesting. To be honest, I am more interested in the specific exact product or service one is working with to make lots of money more than how it advertises it, because it's easier to raise something around a focal point if you know what you work with. But most discussions, if not all, are about what to do, how to market, instead what they sell/advertise ( the general I am selling a car, or a health product, do not apply, since there are tons of health products, etc), and a big part, more or less, about fantasy people have while writing.

Realism is sometimes a fantastic myth  And sometimes when I read threads of various forums I ask myself if is this for real? Because sometimes I ask myself if what I read is not a product of marketing trying to dazzle people with low knowledge, which is true most of the time.

When I will have specific questions, I will lay them down. Because now the questions are similar to "what do I do now", "where do I start", "what if all goes wrong and I end up advertising a shirty product that won't bring you 1 dime even if you use the best things out there", etc :D

If I would ask what niche should I jump in, and what specific product works really great for a startup with no millions of dollars behind the back ( read millions as thousands of dollars, to be more realistic ), most probably I will get a few general answers, a few specific answers from affiliate managers fishing for new affiliates, and a few answers with affiliate ref codes. :)

Cheerios!

PS: I could write horror books, because it seems I have the capability to write a lot without saying that lot.

For some reason I haven't received any alert on my email, although, if I am right, the settings should automatically send alerts. Any tips about the alert settings?

In the upper right portion of this Fix website, you will see a silhouette of a person. Hi-lite it with your mouse, don't click it, just hi-lite it. A menu will drop down and on the left side you will see "Alert Preferences". I suggest you get familiar with that menu.

Here they are: links now allowed yet

You are allowed links in your posts after your first ten posts.

I am not a very engaging person on forums. Nice to know that though.

Well, in a funnel you don't get conversions if your prospect doesn't engage and click through and fulfill the requirements for a conversion. The same here, if you aren't engaging the membership, you aren't going to convert into the marketer you want to be. Forums for the successful are melting pots of feedback, advice, and guidance. The successful know for a fact they don't know it all, not even close. The successful are on a permanent path of learning.

For the beginners, if they follow the advice of the more experienced and successful members, and they don't quit after discovering it requires work, dedication, acceptance of failures, and investment of time and money, then they will develop a successful business.

Turns out I lost 2 years and tons of money on nothing.

Most marketers have gone through something similar at some point. Some for weeks, some for months, some for years.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Be active, ask loads of questions, take action, and be committed. That's how it gets done!

Use this forum as a mentor. It's full of members at every level of experience which makes for many balanced perspectives for a Newbie to learn from. Take the time to read through the forums here and see for yourself that the Newbies achieving success have actually dedicated themselves to success in this industry and reaping the rewards by following the advice of fellow AffiliateFix members, being dedicated to success, putting the time in, and making the necessary investments. You cannot shortcut the learning curve. It goes slower for some and it goes faster for others. Everyone has their own intellectual absorption rates, skill development pace, commitment level, and budgets.

You are a FIX'er now and that means you have the world at your feet with IM. Here are a few suggestions:

Read and learn through extensive reading in this community. Select one vertical. one tracker, and one traffic source. Learn from your fellow members here to master each one of them (a couple of months). Then you can expand and replicate your successes.

As a Newbie, you need to read, study, invest, and implement. Perseverance, dedication, and taking action are the cornerstones of the success you will obtain.

Read
Read through the various areas of the forum to learn about the types of marketing available for your new business. Make a list of all the types of marketing and take some notes along the way. Then determine which area of marketing with which you will start your journey.

Do this to select an area of marketing to start, as well, do this to select a tracker, a traffic source, and to select a vertical.

Then read up on the affiliate networks and select two to begin with that will serve your needs and the types of offers you would like to promote. Put your application in and they will call you for an interview. Be professional and be prepared to answer some questions about how you will promote offers, do you have a website, are you a Newbie, etc. Please note, if you join the Dojo, we have a thread there that can offer assistance in getting accepted to some of the networks.

Study
Now that you have selected a basis to begin, read all of the threads in this forum that relate to your initial selections so that you have a rudimentary understanding of their features and benefits.

Invest
You will require some investment. A VPS server, domains, traffic, landing pages, etc. You will need a budget for daily, weekly, and monthly expenses. This will change over time and you will need to update it often so that you know exactly what your costs and earnings are.

Implement
This is where it all starts to earn. You must now begin to implement what you have established as your foundation for your business.

Here is some advice and guidance that will help you establish your initial goals:

Make sure you complete the following first.

Every business needs:

1. a plan
2. a schedule for research, learning, and execution
3. a budget.

Remember to read through our WIKI and get to know the basics as well as some of the buzz words in the industry.

Here is a set of immediate goals:

1. Get a VPS
2. Select a vertical
3. Select a tracker
4. Select a couple of networks and get your approval
5. Select a traffic source
6. Create a schedule for researching, learning (training), and working. This is a business, treat it as such!
7. Create a budget for every expense (daily, weekly, monthly)
8. Be very active in this forum by researching, asking questions, helping others when you are able.[/QUOTE]

Alert Preferences

It was already setup from day one, I might have missed the first alerts, now it seems to work fine.

Well, in a funnel you don't get conversions if your prospect doesn't engage..............

I am an engaging person generally speaking. On the forums the issue is that most of the time people sell you donuts. I do believe that for the average user, at least 90% of forum discussions, to be mild, are superficial. I might be wrong.

Because if you speak about SEO success, you should have a website that rocks the boards due to your seo techniques applied, if you speak about PPC, then PPC should be a pillar of your monthly income, if you give lectures about mobile traffic, 4-5 figures profit a month from mobile traffic should be a must be, etc.

Someone once said that the successful people apply what they know, while the others teach what they presume to be truth.

I am sure that there are successful people that teach what they also apply, hopefully I will find a lot around this forum. :)

As a Newbie, you need to read, study, invest, and implement.

I have read so much in these 15 years, and I keep doing that. In the last 15 years the only time I was employed in something else was during my university time, when for a couple of years I played the bartender, pizza yolo and barman. This is my full time job, ignoring the last 2 years when my revenue would make a third world economy laugh. o_O

So first I have to find my target, then study and ask question. I already have a vps, domains ( I had a few hundread domains at my pinnacle ). I would rather create my landing pages and websites.

Since I won't go with paid traffic, at least for starters, the budget is not a problem.

The wiki has information that some I learned like 15 years ago :) So it's covered.

Immediate goals:
1. Get a VPS - Checked
2. Select a vertical - The hardest one of all. Zero experience in mainstream.
3. Select a tracker - Based on 2
4. Select a couple of networks and get your approval - Based on 2
5. Select a traffic source - Something that does not break the rules. Don't make me cheat google, facebook, twitter, etc. Build for the future not for 6 months.
6. Schedule - I guess 8 10 hours a day are enough.
7. Small budget
8. Be very active here - Well, you have to give if you want to receive. Hopefully that does not mean that while I will waste the time of the others, some of the others will waste my time.

Ok, if you are really really really confused and what to know where to start.
I will help you.

2. Select a vertical - In my case, I love gaming niches. What kind? Online Games, Console Games, Gaming consoles, anything about games. Try to visualize the person you are targeting. Their AGE, GENDER, LOCATION, INCOME, INTEREST, and some other things. Ask yourself in the mirror. WHO AM I?

3. Select a tracker - if you have some money, Voluum or Bevo or search some good once, if you don't have money. Prosper202 is self hosted or Google Analytics or Don't Use Any.

4. Select a couple of networks and get your approval - JUST GET A NETWORK. For me, Adworkmedia, OGads, Cpagrip, Cpalead. Work with what you have, apply to every network possible. Got rejected? talk to them. Got approved. List it in your arsenal.

5. Select a traffic source - Google SEO is FREE. Social Media is Free. BUT, takes longer to make money. You have a budget? Focus on FACEBOOK PPC. Yeah, the paid traffic.

7. Small budget - How small? 10$ a day? 20? 30? You can even start with 0$..
But, if you will go to the FB ppc route. $10 a day will do. The more, the better.

8. Be very active here - TRUST this forum. Set up a follow along or a journey. Post updates. Ask. Tag us so we can monitor you.

Sorry for my english. Not my primary. I am not a guru. I am not a master. But I believe, this community will help you out. I learned a lot from here and I am passing this advice to you.

FOCUS on something. If you can't, I just gave you something to do.
If you need more, ASK and you shall receive. I will not spoonfeed you though. I don't have that luxury to do so. Wish you the best.

Thank you for the advice Eymard. I suppose that by tagging you mean @EymardSiojo :D Testing it if it works, maybe it's something like the lamp of Aladdin and I have to write it 3 times :p ( @EymardSiojo @EymardSiojo to be sure!) And hopefully I am smart enough not to need spoon feeding. And hopefully I'd return at least in the forum what I am being gifted, as gloomy as it sounds.

2. Hm. I love offroad, enduro ( practicing not watching ), football, games, outdoor activities, a good book, games again, be it online or on PC ( for some reason the only xbox I ever had was sold in 1 week, nor me nor my friends got addicted to it. I earned it from an adult affiliate program a few years ago ), sports, healthy life ( more in theory when it comes about diets, but I enjoy practicing various sports ), politics, smart people, beautiful women, animals, medieval history, some parts of other historic epochs, MONEY, money, Money ( I didn't write this first because I did not want to be tagged as a materialist :D). Etc.

In adult, the vertical was very important. Niche or subniche was the term. This is why it's hard to decide. I am an extremely adaptable person, so I don't have to love the subject to be able to develop content or work with a vertical on a daily basis. .

I have thought about getting involved with online games, be it mmos or flash games, but the ghost is up there in my brain. Is it a good choice? Or the revenue. And a part of me wants something more adult-ish.

What I am sure, is that I don't want to be involved in how to make money affiliate programs based on multi level sales.

Adult dating would be a choice too, but probably it's a very populated niche, as it is the payday loans, the health niche, etc. And I don't want to see the word "adult" too often ( uh what a primadona I am  ). Though I am not afraid to jump in a very competitive vertical, if I understand that that's the place to be.

Who am I? Good question. The answer is scary :D

3. I am used to Analytics. This would be my choice for the first 100k USD in mainstream. 12 months target in a good world, 6 in a perfect world. After that, we shall see. Anyway, the nominations for various things in mainstream is different than what I used to use in adult. Vertical is a niche there, tracker is a statistic software, etc. First thought was WTF is that, sounds like an alien invasion.

4. First I will do 2, and based on the fact that on 5 I will take organic traffic, be it google, facebook, or whatever, with small touches of paid facebook traffic, I will wait to make a sexy website with hopefully quality content on it so when I am asked what websites do I have and from where do I plan to send traffic I don't have to show an adult website.

5. Honestly, although I hate to admit it, organic traffic is the choice, I can't afford paid tests now, even knowing that they deliver instantly. I can't afford relevant tests at least. That means that I can't afford months of tests with a negative ROI.

7. Small budget as in paying required tools if I don't already own them or similar tools. As I said at 5, can't afford relevant tests on the medium term. First I have to produce before I can spend. Hopefully I can use an adult website that I built which started making tons of free signups for an adult chat service, waiting for them to convert to paid ones ( hopefully again :/ ). I will use that source and another adult website I have around 200 1-1.5k words articles prepared for ( I used to have 4 student girls working as writers 2-3 years ago, I have some left content unused ) to sponsor my adult getaway. I had enough, I want to be able to be proud of what I do, and moreover the adult market is filled with free content at the point that an affiliate has a hard time making good bucks.

8. Doing my best on being active. Problem is I write too much.

And I will tag and tag and tag and tag! English is not my primary language either, so don't worry about that. Google translate is great! :D

11. If you had the patience to read all this, whoever you are Oooh you mortal being!, I owe you a big cold beer! ;)

Thank you. Beside number 2, which I would still need some input for now, the others are just informative notes.

Stefan :affiliatefix:

PS: I have to edit the profile picture, it's like I pretend to be Monalisa

I am one of oldies of this forum, but I'm not old. I am a bit inactive due to certain things. I found you interesting and worth helping so I summoned myself back to give a helping hand.

I am a practical person, so I will give you practical answer in the best way I can.

I read everything. IT'S A LOT!! Hahaha! :D
You really do love to write. You know what? with the skill set, I find it hard to believe that you are struggling to make money in this world.

From the looks of it, digging through all the information you have given to me. Hmm?
Thinking.. Hmm?

You made some money way back with Adult Niches, when was it? 3 years ago? when Google is so broken you can easily rank a blogspot site? or is it recent? like panda or something?

Try to replicate the SAME THING you did last time, if it is not that time consuming. See if you can have the same result, if not, try to TWIST or TWEAK some process to adapt with the recent change. You can ask specifically to us, or if its so private, give us a same scenario and maybe we can help you improve it. THE THING IS, WE NEED YOU TO START ON SOMETHING. Just DO it.

If you don't have a budget for tools and software, DON'T spend if you don't really need it.
Make a journey, or maybe, use this thread or tag me to a journey of yours. Ask what you need, like software or tools, WE might give you some tips where to get them, or maybe, there is an alternative that we recommend for you to use. Ask and you shall receive. Maybe? Hahaha.

Being active is by being active making money together with the forum. In this point of time, don't mind other starters, because you, yourself need to make this work. You can be active by having your journey or campaign thread. It is like making this forum your online journey, share what is needed, but don't make it to OPEN for others to copy. You know what I mean.

I don't know if I helped you in some point. but, please, DO START NOW. Hahaha!

Btw, I received your whisper in my ear, my answer is, it will not benefit you if you don't have money to spend. Trust me, I won't push you to get something that will not help you in this point in time. Just SAVE your money for Paid traffic other than, using it to buy something and worry not having to implement.

Good luck and have fun. I will summon myself again if necessary. See you.

Walks out the door. Closed it. Hanged a sign. "Call me when it is urgent". Joke! Hahaha. :)
