Here are the 8 rules I observe for selecting the proper area call:

• It must be clean and understood in a second
• It must be brandable (think Google.Com VS SearchForWhatYouWant.Com)
• keep it quick (2-three words most)
• NO HYPHENS!
• Hold the name flexible, do not limit yourself
• best .Com domains!
• Use a keyword in the name if possible
• do not overthink it, pick out some thing!

No dashes or hyphens is pretty bad because the bots could e.g. read the following:
Lets take for example the site name 'experts exchange ...'.
Without hyphen or dash it would be 'expertsexchange' which could be read as a 'expert sexchange'.
Maybe a not bad site for some people - but never good in the eyes of G

Thanks for sharing the tips for getting the best domain ever. I must say that there has been issues with people getting the domains especially for those doing the internet marketing. People always think that getting any domain can just make the work done. Yes, for sure it will work but the number of resources that you could have pumped into will leave you in a shock. Branding as a whole starts with the domain. It is true that the domain you choose matters alot.
