Hi all, firstly let me introduce myself...

I'm an ambitious 18 year old who is trying to get involved with affiliate marketing and looking to thrive to succeed.

I have read the wiki and took notes and read it over and over again but firstly before i begin my journey, i have some questions...

1) What is the difference between mobile and desktop marketing?

2) Is there a better payout difference for either mobile or desktop conversions?

3) What is best recommended for a newbie like myself?

Thanks everyone!

P.S. Loving the forum!

Hi Kev and welcome into the Dojo, mobile vs desktop marketing has to do with the traffic sources setup for either the mobile audience or the desktop audience. Also setting up your landers or landing pages to accommodate that traffic source is key as well. I don't think there is a big difference but I know the mobile audiences is growing by leaps and bounds surpassing the desktop arena. More fish in the pond so to speak.
take care,
ChrisM

Hey buddy, hope you're doing great. First of all welcome to AffiliateFix and I really admire your decision to enter into affiliate marketing business.

Here are your answers:

1) Mobile marketing is where you promote products (either yours or affiliate products) using a mobile app or using mobile advertising platforms. Basically you monetize all the mobile traffic coming to your site. Whereas desktop or traditional marketing involves promoting products, in your case affiliate products, to a set of targeted audience which is coming to your website or blog from organic searches, social media or advertisements using a computer or laptop.

2) Not exactly, I myself do both mobile and desktop marketing and the payout remains the same for conversions through both platforms. This is because you target the location, interest and age group of your audience rather than the medium they are using. No matter, I use my macbook or my iphone to access a certain site, the affiliate would receive same commissions from both of them.

3) To be honest with you, there are dozens of genuine learning platforms for newbies just like you. This is the one I highly recommend because I'd myself used it for months and the results were great. This is not at all any other poorly designed course, but its a set of premium softwares, video vault and forum etc to help you setup an affiliate business right from scratch. Don't worry, it cost only $1 to start and I can assure you won't regret the decision.

Also, as you are new to this business and can be easily scammed by so called marketing gurus, its my duty as an honest marketer to guide you. One of my net friends published this amazing content and I would recommend you to also have a look at this too - AffiloPro

Welcome here man.

In response to your question number 3.

You don't need to pay any course to start. (Read that again please)

It is important to understand, that there's no magic formula in this industry. There's not such a thing. And if there's one, NOBODY is going to tell you, just because you are a pretty good man.

The only thing that's important is the commitment to work and learn every day. And the commitment to stay with your plans.

It doesn't make sense to pay anything before you've learned all the FREE INFO THAT'S IS AVAILABLE.

There are plenty of blogs/sites where you could absorb a lot of very good info FOR FREE. Just like you're doing.

Well said ezbren, there has to be a point where one understands just purchasing a product or service will not flood your bank account! Also the Dojo is a great starting point to learn and bounce ideas off of.

Hello @kev smith and welcome to the AffiliateFix!

I have read the wiki and took notes and read it over and over again but firstly before i begin my journey, i have some questions...

1) What is the difference between mobile and desktop marketing?

It's just the devices and offers you are targeting. You can choose to market to all or some. Think of it like this, their are different devices such as PC's, Laptops, Tablets, and Phones. There are offers that may be more appropriate for one or the other, and there are offers specific to one or the other (less likely these days). As well, there are also traffic sources catering to both and there are traffic sources that may be specific to one or the other (though this is less likely these days).

Your job is to find the combinations that work best for your marketing model.

2) Is there a better payout difference for either mobile or desktop conversions?

As some have said, this is pretty much the same across the board.

3) What is best recommended for a newbie like myself?

Before you get caught up in buying any course, it is most important for you (as a Newbie) to get the basics down and get your feet wet. This forum has all of the stuff you require to develop your first efforts and to get your learning curve up and running to the point of earning. See my recommendations below for the quick guide I propose to all Newbies.

Perhaps this will help you get some answers and develop a plan for your beginnings:

Perseverance, dedication, and taking action are the cornerstones of the success you will obtain.

As a Newbie, you need to read, study, invest, and implement.

Read
Read through the various areas of the forum to learn about the types of marketing available for your new business. Make a list of all the types of marketing and take some notes along the way. Then determine which area of marketing with which you will start your journey.

Do this to select an area of marketing to start, as well, do this to select a tracker, a traffic source, and to select a vertical.

Then read up on the affiliate networks and select two to begin with that will serve your needs and the types of offers you would like to promote. Put your application in and they will call you for an interview. Be professional and be prepared to answer some questions about how you will promote offers, do you have a website, are you a Newbie, etc. Please note, if you join the Dojo, we have a thread there that can offer assistance in getting accepted to some of the networks.

Study
Now that you have selected a basis to begin, read all of the threads in this forum that relate to your initial selections so that you have a rudimentary understanding of their features and benefits.

Invest
You will require some investment. A VPS server, domains, traffic, landing pages, etc. You will need a budget for daily, weekly, and monthly expenses. This will change over time and you will need to update it often so that you know exactly what your costs and earnings are.

Implement
This is where it all starts to earn. You must now begin to implement what you have established as your foundation for your business.

Here is some advice and guidance that will help you establish your initial goals:

Make sure you complete the following first.

Every business needs:

1. a plan
2. a schedule for research, learning, and execution
3. a budget.

Remember to read through our WIKI and get to know the basics as well as some of the buzz words in the industry.

I also recommend reading the following thread:

As a Newbie, What Stops You From Getting Started

Here is a set of immediate goals:

1. Get a VPS
2. Select a vertical
3. Select a tracker
4. Select a couple of networks and get your approval
5. Select a traffic source
6. Create a schedule for researching, learning (training), and working. This is a business, treat it as such!
7. Create a budget for every expense (daily, weekly, monthly)
8. Be very active in this forum by researching, asking questions, helping others when you are able.

As well, I highly recommend you join the DOJO as it is full of great tools and contributions for successful marketers. Click the banner below to learn more.
