To prevent access from some common 'bots' and site rippers you need to create a htaccess file in your main directory


What is .htaccess file?

.htaccess is a configuration file for use on web servers running the Apache Web Server software.


How to use it?

Create a '.htaccess' file in text editor such as dreamweave, notepad++, sublime text and place it in your main director something like 'public_html' or 'www' or where you upload your website.

Note : You have to save it as .htaccess without any extension/name.


How to block/prevent 'bot' access?

Copy the code given below in .htaccess file with any text editor and place it in your main directory

Want to Block IP Address to access your webpage?

order allow,deny
deny from 255.0.0.0
deny from 123.45.6.
allow from all

Note: If you want block access to images/includes folder do not place it in your main directory, place this .htaccess file in images or folder which you want to block access.

Block Visitor from referer website?

Nice tips however thread name should be change as these tips are more for blocking access rather than preventing copying of content
