The Ebay affiliate program has some exciting new offerings on the way. The "coming soon" <strong>Ebay PlaceOffer API</strong> will enable consumers to reach eBay via non-Internet channels and will appeal to affiligeeks that want to develop mobile apps or partner with TIVO.
Lily Shen, the eBay Affiliate Program Manager says "Where we are headed is more around mobile and what we're calling the digital living room. There are a lot of people online on the Internet; we are trying to figure out ways we can tap into other consumers. So we sit back and think, "Where are people and where do they spend their time?" And it's on the phone and TV, so we are figuring out ways that we can enable affiliates to drive traffic via those methods."
<strong>Ebay AdContext</strong>, the company's new contextual advertising tool will be launching in 07 too.
In yesterday's <a target="_new" href="href="http://clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3624871">Clickz interview with the Ebay affiliate manager</a> Lily also mentioned the type of affiliates Ebay works with which include everything from large portals like EarthLink, to one man/woman affiliates to email marketers. I'm sure the affiliates she mentions that earn $1 million a month are large portals and top online destinations, but it's still exciting to hear about any affiliate that generates numbers that big.
