Not that I've ever used them for hosting, but I'll second this with GoDaddy. When they voiced their positive stance on SOPA, I immediately dumped all my domains to enom.
Totally agree with Daianapotter. GoDaddy is pure garbage.
I buy my domains from enom, & I host them on VPS servers that I setup & host on DigitalOcean & AWS.
Generally, the closest to this that I see is free domain name with paid hosting. You used to be able to get free subdomains, but had to point them to your own hosting.
Also, it's most common that anything "free" is about what it's worth. They are insecure environments, full of ads, slow, &...
I would setup Load Balanced web servers on AWS EC2 instances with a shared RDS database connection. That way if the site gets hit with excess traffic, you could always spin up more front end sites as needed, & then scale them back.
Speed can be effected by having large images, non-minified js files, & too many plugins. One could also effectively decrease their load time by using a CDN. "Speed" is relative. Just because it's slow on one host, does not mean that host is slow, nor does changing hosts guarantee the speed...
For years I have been using CloudFlare for DNS. They offer a CDN with 36 servers in various countries, as well as low level DDOS prevention on their free tier.
Are you asking how to change the URL, how to change the DNS?
The topic says "redirect", but then you ask how to change the address. The post is incredibly unclear as to what you are trying to do.
Acquia is absolute garbage. Did contracting work for a Drupal shop that went with Acquia because they were formed by early Drupal developers & their project funding required they use a cloud based service. They (Acquia) constantly changed environments without notification, provided zero...
Great point. By having each site use it's own unique database, any break-in is mitigated to that site. Another reminder to not use the same login credentials across multiple WordPress sites ;)
While I have read about setting up "multi-sites" under a single domain instance of WordPress, I don't see any value to not setting up multiple vhosts under Apache or nginx & running each instance of WordPress unique to the host & it's fqdn. This approach would be "side of host" as you worded...
I'm sorry, but no. This is over simplification & just general explanations based solely on the name of the service. For example, VPS server hosting can be, & generally is in the cloud. So your differential between the two is just bs imo. All of what you have here is simply sales drivel.
just because the site is over https does not mean the site is secure, or in any way hack proof. It means that the data is transmitted over an encrypted channel.
The moment you register a domain, your whois contact information is scraped.
You also have no idea, nor any control, over the...
I wound up going with BPM Ohio - DJ Equipment and Rentals
Interestingly, in my search over just a week I found a major instragram account that was unregistered & linked from 3 resources with lots of traffic.
Over the last few days I have been searching for domains with backlinks. Found one domain that has backlinks that are medium authority. The domain was last relevant 4 years ago, has 10 to 15 backlinks from medium authority.
How would you evaluate the ad-revenue potential of a domain? Is it...
GoDaddy is garbage. They are expensive for what they offer, their renewal rates are awful, their support is highly susceptible to social engineering (from experience & from news), & their entire stance on SOPA shows they only care about their bottom dollar.
Anytime that I take a customer off...
