Is guest blogging more about quantity or quality? I mean, are you more after the opportunity to write 50 low quality blogs or 5 high quality blogs? Or is one better sometimes and the other better other times?
You have to operate with the mentality that you're a marketing business and that the people who pay you commissions are your customers. Then you have to figure out how to deliver that marketing product to your customers. If you do it, you'll get paid.

Are you talking about dripping affiliate links in blog comments or posting blog posts with your links in them?
Regarding the comments, check the Terms of Service with your affiliate manager, they may prohibit that because it seems spammy.
