    Are your serps droping at all, If so it could be down to new site syndrome. Basicly google gives new sites a boost that fades after a couple of months if a site is new then it could be going into this phase.

    It's quite normal to have "landing pages" for keywords to rank better than a homepage. If your site layout is good it shouldn't be an issue.

    why provide metadata on all pages ??

    It's a good question. What happens if someone has a odd shapped body? say with very large shoulders? I'd be tempted to try to get them indexed too and certainly wouldn't block them from being indexed. Nearly any traffic will be good traffic however probably not worth spending much time on them.
