It totally depends on your site. Their are lots of reasons.
If it's aimed at the UK market then google may know this and that is why your ranked high on google.co.uk. eg if it's a listing of what's on in local cinemas in the UK then their'd be no need to have a high rank on google.com or other...
Me too. I've heard of large site's having different servers for images, php files and databases but never heard of a site having an extra server for css files.
vBulliten doen't have everything built into it. You will need to modify vBulletin as well you know however it is easier to modify. If your thinking of changeing forum I'd suggest IPB3 as it's far more advanced than both vb and phpbb. For example it has an inbuilt SEO and an install mod hook that...

Ya I've seen a lot of sites start this but I havn't myself yet. Think it's time I finally did.
