I see you only have the usual fields so far (title, URL description). Address, phone number, city, postcode, eventually a map I think all these would be great extra options.
The domain extension has nothing to do with the rankings...as for general impression I guess it's up to everyone. I never had any problems with any extension and I never heard anyone saying "I don't like this website because it's a .org and not a .com" I'd say the quality of the website it's...

I always said that for many key phrases ranking on the first two positions of the second page (11,12) may bring more traffic than ranking on the last three positions from the first page (8,9,10)

That's the best part of eSyndicat...I've bought an unlimited license back in 2006...never used it as I didn't liked the script that much at that time...They did a fantastic job and the latest versions of the script are fantastic...I remember...
I used phpLynx on a directory a while ago (the full version)...it was good...remember I've had no problems. The only downside was that the script wasn't open source so basically you can't play with the code (not sure if it's still like that)
