    Free forum script or paid one?

    Nobody seems to be memtioning proboards here! Its totally free and they even host the site for free. Perhaps is not the best of the lot but for a beginner to learn through trial and error I think its the best way to go!

    I have noticed that in order to avoid unwanted posters posting bad things on your forums best to have your settings set so that any new members have to be approved by either the webmaster or the global moderator and this should discourage any trouble maker from trying to register only to do harm...

    I agree with some of the other posters here, its the content of the posts and not what type of software that is being used that keeps me coming back. What good is Vbulleting or any other software for that matter if its a dead forum?

    How to remove powered by vBulletin from your vb forum title

    I would think for a novice forum site better to stick to proboards as its totally free including the hosting. The drawback is its not as good as Vbulletin but once you get better you can always upgrade to Vbulletin so you can make proboards your practise boards until you get the hang of it! :)

    another good way to increase traffic to your site is to create back links to your site, I have not personally used this technique yet but from what I hear if you have the time then this is a good way to create economical traffic to your site
